Why Nursing
Sunday, December 28, 2008
Individuals considering nursing should carefully weigh the advantages and disadvantages of enrolling in a BSN program, because, if they do, their advancement opportunities usually are broader. This can decrease the amount of mandatory overtime that nurses are required to work. In addition, the number of older people, who are much more likely than younger people to need nursing care, is projected to grow rapidly. For example, employment is expected to grow more slowly in hospitals which comprise health cares largest industry than in most other health care industries. In addition, the financial pressure on hospitals to discharge patients as soon as possible should produce more admissions to nursing care facilities.
In this continually changing environment, it is important to study the trends in nursing jobs in order to determine a successful career path. Emergency, or trauma, nurses work in hospital emergency departments and treat patients with life-threatening conditions caused by accidents, heart attacks, and strokes.
With the help and support of more experienced nurses, nurses participate in the nursing process from the beginning. Their nursing expertise and experience on a health care team equip them to manage ambulatory, acute, home-based, and chronic care.

There’s this rare feeling that I can’t explain
It’s somethin’ from which I can’t refrain
Unexpected, yet I feel it may be true
I’m inlove with you
Mere words can never say
How much I feel inside for you
You were sent me from heaven above
To be my angel, to be my guide
And now I thank God…
It’s you that I got
My life was once a lonely one
But you’ve changed it to a happy one
I’ve believe without a doubt
That I have just discovered
What true love is all about
My love for you will never end
Because every wound I will mend
I wish we can but I know we can
Hold on ‘til the day I’m yours
And your mind completely.

but what happened
you can't explain
you live your life without direction
done everything without intention
you been serious
make everybody curious
how could we see your goodness
if you make your life a mess
no one could ever dare to care
if you, yourself dont care

"Beneath the Waves"
Friday, September 26, 2008
if there could be
one permanent thing in the world,
it would be change...
to deny change
is to deny a single reality.
attitudes change,
feelings change,
desires change,
and above all,,, love changes.
there is no stopping it,
no holding it back;
there is only going with it....
just like the tides,
and the waves that touch the shorelines,
its when you let it go that man can be truly free...

Hell
Friday, August 15, 2008
Ever to lie in a bed of stone,
With no bright colours to lessen your doom,
Utterly, entirely alone.
Once so merry, now cold and grey,
Lost in a land of bad.
No sun, no sky, no wind, no rain,
No one that is not mad.
Your new friends are spirits of your kind,
That darken innocent people's doors,
I expect you've already joined their gambols,
Haunting the dreary moors.
Once so good, now closed in by evil,
Forgotton by all - but I -
I weep to see your mouldy grave,
The dust in which you lie.
Forget me not, wild spirit,
Haunt other people's doors,
But remember, I'll never forget you,
You tyrant of the moors.

Do You Believe?
Tuesday, July 15, 2008
Do you believe?
Believing is strife
but believing is life.
Do you believe?
I am a believer.
Don't tell.
They lament
If you're diff'rent.
Don't tell.
I am a believer.
Do you believe?
Believing is everything.
Believing is anything.
Do you believe?

It's magical outside
As if the fairies haunt
Places not yet dried.
The tables sparkle magically
Against the shimmering sun, they shine.
The fairies make them shine for me
And the magic is all mine,
Mine alone, as noone else
Can see my secret shrine.
The fairies trust in me alone-
The magic is all mine.

A Typical Beach
Thursday, June 12, 2008
beside the wispy, waspy clouds
White and curling gently
on the breeze...
The sand is a honey-gold yellow
which sparkles in the sun
Waiting, beckoning brightly
around the trees...
The trees are a glory of moisture
even when it's dry
Green, wide leafed and healthy
in the shade...
The birds are calling shrewdly
and the howling cry
Makes no little child
even slightly afraid...
The sea is an inky turquoise
armed with salty waves
Always moving, never stopping
even at night...
The sun is a dot in the distance
creating light and heat
Showing the beach who brings the people-
the sun so bright!

Beginner's Guide to Martial Arts Supplies and Uniforms
Sunday, May 25, 2008
Martial Arts School Requirements
Before buying a uniform or other martial arts supplies, find out what your school, or dojo, requires. The traditional color for karate uniforms is white with white, black, or brown belt colors; however, some schools require specific colors or special patches that distinguish their school from others. Some dojos might limit you to only one particular uniform color while others might offer a variety of choices. It really depends on the school.
Also, become familiar with uniform terminology so you'll know which style to buy. There are varying styles for different types of martial arts. Karate uniforms are called "karategi" or "karate gi." Judo uniforms are called "judogi." There are also specific uniforms for taekwondo or jujutsu. Uniforms worn by practitioners are often called "dobok." You can use the terminology related to your particular martial arts interests to search for uniforms or martial arts supplies online.
Sizing Your Martial Arts Uniform
Your uniform size should correspond with your height, but his may vary from one brand name to the next. It's a good idea to know your height and even the measurements of your hips, arms, waist, and legs before you start shopping. If shopping online, some stores might offer measurement and size charts for martial arts supplies and uniforms. If purchasing a uniform made of 100 percent cotton, be sure to buy pre-shrunk material or buy a slightly bigger size in case the material shrinks in the wash.
uality vs. Weight of Material
Martial arts uniforms are available in a variety of materials and styles, but not all are equal. Uniforms made of 100 percent cotton are the most popular choice for two reasons: cotton breathes and it absorbs sweat. Polyester/cotton blends do not absorb sweat that well, but are usually less expensive. If you're concerned that a cotton uniform will wrinkle too easily, don't worry. During practice, the wrinkles will usually work their way out anyway!
Another feature to consider is the weight of the material. Uniforms come in lightweight, medium, or heavyweight fabrics. Read the weight of the uniform on the packaging or tag, as described in ounces. Heavier materials are usually priced higher, but beware of manufacturers' labels that claim "heavyweight" material when it really weighs the same as another brand that's lower in price.
Lightweight uniforms, which are the least expensive, usually weigh about 6 ounces, and work great for beginners who aren't sure if they're going to stick with martial arts classes. Medium uniforms weigh around 10 ounces and work great as far as absorbing sweat and providing flexibility. Heavyweight uniforms weigh about 14 ounces and are also called "Master karate uniforms."
The TouchStone
Saturday, May 17, 2008
When the great library of Alexandria burned, the story goes, one book was saved. But it was not a valuable book; and so a poor man, who could read a little, bought it for a few coppers.
The book wasn’t very interesting, but between its pages there was something very interesting indeed. It was a thin strip of vellum on which was written the secret of the “Touchstone”!
The touchstone was a small pebble that could turn any common metal into pure gold. The writing explained that it was lying among thousands and thousands of other pebbles that looked exactly like it. But the secret was this: The real stone would feel warm, while ordinary pebbles are cold.
So the man sold his few belongings, bought some simple supplies, camped on the seashore, and began testing pebbles.
He knew that if he picked up ordinary pebbles and threw them down again because they were cold, he might pick up the same pebble hundreds of times. So, when he felt one that was cold, he threw it into the sea. He spent a whole day doing this but none of them was the touchstone. Yet he went on and on this way. Pick up a pebble. Cold - throw it into the sea. Pick up another. Throw it into the sea.
The days stretched into weeks and the weeks into months. One day, however, about midafternoon, he picked up a pebble and it was warm. He unknowingly threw it into the sea before he realized what he had done. He had formed such a strong habit of throwing each pebble into the sea that when the one he wanted came along, he still threw it away.
So it is with opportunity. Unless we are vigilant, it’s asy to fail to recognize an opportunity when it is in hand and it’s just as easy to throw it away.

Six Tips Guaranteed To Improve Your Tennis Game
Sunday, April 20, 2008
Buy a graphite racquet. If you don't want to spend any money on a new racquet and think that your parents' old wooden relics are just fine, think again. A wooden racquet simply cannot generate the power of the newer graphite models so you will be constantly underpowered when using one. Plus, the head on the newer racquets are much larger so it makes hitting the ball that much easier. Besides, there are graphite racquets out there starting around $20 that are fine for getting started.
Hit against a board. While these are getting hard to find, there are tennis courts that have a board set up against the fence. Before thinking about playing a match, try hitting against the board to improve your accuracy. Once you can hit 8-10 balls without missing, you are ready to start playing some matches with real people.
Keep moving. Tennis is not baseball. Tennis is a sport that demands constant movement in order to succeed. You have to move towards that ball the moment you know where it is heading. Being out of position is a common mistake for beginners so improve your chances for success by always moving. Once you hit a shot, move back towards the center of the court behind the baseline. Don't wait for the next shot ... move!
What about my tennis strokes? There is a constant debate over a one-handed versus two-handed backhand. Use the one-handed backhand because it takes less time to be in the proper position for this shot. Plus, you will have a wider variety of angles and less prone to having the ball fly into you while you are preparing for the shot.
Spurs likely headed to a 4th NBA title
Tuesday, March 4, 2008
The Spurs (57-21) have won nine straight games at home and still have a shot at a second consecutive 60-win season, but the Phoenix Suns are doing their best to keep them at bay.
Shawn Marion had 24 points and 10 rebounds as the Suns stayed two games ahead of San Antonio in the fight for the No. 2 playoff spot in the Western Conference with a 109-91 victory Wednesday night over the depleted Seattle Supersonics.
Should it come down to it, San Antonio holds the tiebreaker with the Suns.
The Spurs are 22-3 since the All-Star break, best of any team in the NBA. The Mavericks are 20-4 and the Phoenix Suns are 19-6.
Also, Robert Horry played for the first time in April on Wednesday against the Kings, after missing five games because of an abdominal contusion. Horry has been either inactive or didn't play in nine other games for San Antonio this year.
In 10 other games he played 10 minutes or fewer. But the playoffs loom, meaning Horry is healthy and ready to take on a more significant role.
"It's just one of those weird things where you really couldn't do any treatment for it and you really couldn't diagnose it except as an (abdominal) contusion," Horry said of the injury he sustained taking a charge on Seattle's Chris Wilcox on March 23. "A lot of people probably thought, 'Oh, that's just some kind of rest for the playoffs.' I haven't played enough this season to need a rest."
Horry entered Wednesday's game against Sacramento midway through the first period and played 10 minutes in San Antonio's victory, scoring a bucket in 11 minutes.
Don't look now, but Michael Finley is also heating up.
"He's playing confidently and he's been shooting well for quite a while now. It's important that he's playing defense and going to the boards as a perimeter player. He's playing a good all-around game." -- San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich on Michael Finley, who has been starting in place of the injured Brent Barry.
Barry returned Wednesday night in the Spurs' win over Sacramento after missing the previous four games with back spasms. Barry, who had been starting prior to his injury, came off the bench and had six points, four rebounds and three assists in 20 minutes.
The vast majority of fans who participated in a recent SpursReport poll think that Finley will have the most significant impact of any role player during the post-season.
Veteran Jacque Vaughn will also try to continue his quiet contributions for the team. He had 11 points in 14 minutes against the Kings, his second-highest scoring output of the season. Vaughn had 13 points in a blowout win over Seattle in late March.
Digital Camcorders Have Advantages
Friday, February 15, 2008
There are some things to remember when shopping for a digital camcorder. You should pay attention to a few key features of digital camcorders. The viewing screen is one of the most important and relevant factors of the entire device. Remember that you will use this screen not only for shooting your movies but for the convenient playback feature. You will want to be able to adequately view your playback.
Of utmost importance is the lense of any camcorder. Most camcorders sold today feature at least a 10x zoom lens. This is adequate for most purposes. Often higher zoom levels are not able to maintain a quality video so they may not be useful.
All camcorders offer one of two types of image stabilization. They are electronic or optical. Image stabilization is incredibly important. The electronic stabilization counteracts images that seem to float on the CCD by using internal circuitry to interpret video after the image has been captured. The optical option uses the len's mechanism to compensate for external movements.
Sound is also an important consideration. Sound relies on the quality of the microphone on the camcorder. Some camcorders offer zoom microphones which enhance the voice quality of the subject being recorded. If sound is important to your recordings consider a camcorder that has a socket to plug in a remote microphone.
Home Video Technology
Saturday, February 2, 2008
In order to cope with this problem, additional television sets were installed into the rooms. Now, everybody can watch the program they want to see without causing any hostility from their siblings. They can just connect their television set to a common cable and then enjoy the programs being broadcasted there. But still, problems arose because of the speed and ease that they needed to view the programs properly.
Now how is it possible to get home video traffic? With the dawn of WiFi, coaxial cables and what-have-yous, people are getting more confused as to what is best to use for their home video needs. For a time, WiFi dominated the scene. It became one of the most sought after connection that enabled users to access videos from anywhere in the world - via the Internet and then view it on television without using any irritating wires.
Unfortunately, there were several downsides to this. Since WiFi is a wireless connection, it needs to be near a source of signal in order to function properly and get a good picture or video. If you happen to stay in a spot that cannot be reached by the signal, then you will not be able to access your video via WiFi. It is quite an advantage to be able to access videos without the hassle of wires hindering your home video experience. Unfortunately, it is also a disadvantage since you do not get any video feed from it if ever the distance between the source of the signal and you lengthens. Because of this problem, the popularity of WiFi for providing home video traffic dwindled in favor of new technologies that can provide the consumer with great continuous video feeds as well as music and other multimedia connections.
The Protectionism Delusion
Wednesday, January 16, 2008
Furthermore, the costs of protectionism are hidden because trade barriers are embedded in the prices of goods. Thus, either due to misunderstandings of the gains of trade or due to political considerations, governments may impose trade barriers, with consequences such as higher prices, which can not be realized by the public at the beginning.
No matter how compelling the logic for free trade, barriers do exist. Tariffs are excise taxes on imported goods. They may be imposed for purposes of revenue or protection. Protective tariffs are designed to shield domestic producers from foreign competition. Although they are usually not high enough to prohibit importation of foreign goods, they put foreign producers at a competitive disadvantage in selling in domestic markets. Import quotas specify the maximum amounts of commodities, which may be imported in any period. Thus, they can more effectively retard international commerce than tariffs. Non-tariff barriers (NTBs) refer to licensing requirements, unreasonable standards pertaining to product quality and safety, or unnecessary bureaucratic red tape in customs procedures. Great Britain bars importation of coal this way. Finally, voluntary export restrictions (VERs) are a trade barrier by which foreign firms "voluntarily" limit the amount of their exports to a particular country.
God’s Pharmacy
Friday, January 4, 2008
A friend sent this to me through mail. It’s been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish… all before making a human. He made and provided what we’d need before we were born. These are best & more powerful when eaten raw. We’re such slow learners…
God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body!
God’s Pharmacy! Amazing!
A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye… and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.
A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.
Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.
A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.
Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.
Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don’t have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.
